Despite all that ease and more intuitive operating system, I found that my USB modem got screwed by this new version of Apple’s new OS update/upgrade/whatever.
And mobile modem peripheral manufacturer such as Huawei, seemed reluctant to issue an update regarding to this change.
One thing for sure, in this OS 10.6, Apple definitely left Carbon and focus more on Cocoa.
Overall performance, my up time indeed got faster. But with all that compatibility issue, my Mac has returned to the age 0f Classic OS 9 where MAC stands for Machine Always Crash.
Using my USB modem has gave me 6 times crash within 3 hours time (make that 2 and half hour, given the 30 minutes of reboot and tiring fsck-ing time goes wasted)
A relieve that it seemed the OS has released up to 9 GB of my hard drive – and rendered several apps fucking useless – but I guess it’s just a price to pay to have such a beautiful intuitive OS huh?
For all enthusiast out there, I strongly suggest to wait for all your peripheral manufacturer issue an update compatible for 10.6 and that 10.6 itself have an update up to 10.6.3 to adopt this wonderful – somewhat challenging to new adopter – OS X version.
Cheers
