Apple has yet done it again!
I know this post is rather late since the Snow Leopard was started shipping on August 28th 2009. But I just can’t help my to comment after reading so much review
As it gain lots and lots of praise from many established tech writer from Business Week up to PC Magazine, Snow Leopard seemed to bury the to be released 7 from the store next door.
I know switching to Mac is probably the best thing I ever did! I know back then like 10 years ago, gaming was never in Apple’s field, but with Grand Central Dispatch and Open CL, like I stated on my post regarding Chrome OS, Apple can now expect games being develop for the Mac instead of having a PC ported games.
As installation goes, I once had a Tiger 13″ Macbook. I have it upgraded to Leopard and without hassle. It just runs! With the other OS, I have to like loose all my software, and after finish installing (or re-installing) I have to go through putting back files where it belong, installing software I regularly used, installing drivers… UUURGHHH!!!
But not with the Mac! And Snow Leopard also adopt the same installation process. Upgrade mad swift, fast, and it is said to have reduce some space regularly used for OS up to 7 GB or even in some cases, MORE!!!
There’s one quote that bothers me very much from David Pogue of theNew York Times:
“The Mac now adjusts its own clock when you travel, just like a cellphone. The menu bar can now show the date, not just the day of the week. The menu of nearby wireless hot spots now shows the signal strength for each. When you’re running Windows on your Mac, you can now open the files on the Macintosh “side” without having to restart. Icons can now be 512 pixels (several inches) square, turning any desktop window into a light table for photos.”
Does it mean, if I am a prone Windows user, my files over the “Mac Side” also open for virus attack? Making mental mind that I will never open my mac files when I am in Windows environment.
I will write more on the experience using the Snow Leopard!
